Sourcing Items

We understand that every detail matters. Especially when you're planning a memorable experience for your guests. When it comes to sourcing items for live personalization, most of our clients prefer to source their own materials to ensure alignment with their brand or event theme. That said, we’re happy to assist with the sourcing process for an additional sourcing fee, which is based on a percentage of the item cost and the time required for research.

Material Compatibility

The good news is that most items are suitable for hand engraving or calligraphy. I use a delicate, controlled technique that allows for beautiful personalization across a wide variety of surfaces without compromising the integrity of the material. To ensure the best results, I do request that one sample item be provided prior to the event. This gives me an opportunity to test the surface and confirm that the design will be smooth, consistent, and visually refined.

Sourcing Suggestions

Items can often be found through well-known retailers, local boutiques, or wholesale vendors—whatever best fits your vision and budget. If you’ve already found something you love, I’m happy to review your selection to confirm that it’s suitable for personalization before you commit to a full order.

How It Works

Arrival/Setup: I arrive approximately 30 minutes before the event to set up. For high-volume events, I will have a sign-up sheet for guests to write down their engraving requests.

  • Drafting: Depending on the complexity of the design, I begin by drafting the text to ensure proper placement and alignment.

  • For Engraving: Once satisfied with the draft, I create the final design. While the drill can be loud and high-pitched, it is usually drowned out by music or conversation in large spaces.

    • Finishing Touches: Depending on the material, I may apply a metallic color fill to items like fragrance bottles, spirit/wine bottles, glass jar candles, and cosmetics. Glassware and metal tumblers do not receive rub-n-buff due to its toxicity if ingested.

  • For Heat Foiling and Wood Burning: Once satisfied with the draft, I create the final design using a heat controlled tool.

  • Guest Pickup: Once the item is complete, it will be available for pickup. Each event's logistics vary, so let’s discuss these details to determine the best flow for personalization requests at your event.

  • Generally, I can complete ~15-20 items per hour. However, several factors can impact this rate, including the type of material, the amount of text, and crowd management logistics.

On-Site Setup Needs

  • A desk or table and a chair with a back (preferred)

  • An outlet (only for heat services like wood-burning, gold-foiling, or leather foiling)

  • A well-lit space (though I travel with a task light for evening or dimly lit events)

FAQs

  • Live engraving and calligraphy are perfect for weddings, brand activations, corporate events, holiday parties, private dinners, and milestone celebrations. Any event that values guest experience and thoughtful detail is a great fit.

  • Most guests choose their name, initials, or a short word or phrase. Engraving works best with concise text, which makes each piece feel clean, modern, and timeless.

  • Clients often prefer to source their own items to align with their brand or event theme. I am happy to assist with sourcing for an additional fee or review your selections to ensure they engrave beautifully.

  • On average, I complete 15 to 20 items per hour, depending on the material and complexity. I will help you plan timing so guests enjoy the experience without long waits.

  • A table or desk, a chair with a back, and a well-lit space. For engraving and heat-based services, access to an outlet is required. I bring all necessary tools and supplies.

  • The engraving tool can produce a high-pitched sound, but it is typically softened by music and conversation in event spaces. It has never been disruptive and often adds to the sense of live craftsmanship.

  • Yes. Travel availability and fees depend on location and will be clearly outlined in your custom proposal.
